    Hey coach,

    When you were talking about the fitness test my brain got to wondering. You mentioned the standard tests look for an inflection point where you start producing more CO2 than Oxygen consumption.

    What I have learned about losing fat is you are not burning fat so much as you are converting it to CO2 and exhaling it. So are they looking for how much fat you are using for energy vs sugars?

    The main point I am looking for is not about training myself, but sort of figuring out what sort of workout might be best to lose unwanted fat. My theory is if I can create more CO2 then wouldn’t that be good for losing fat.

    My understanding is HIIT is the best way to burn fat, but maybe not.

      CO2 production is a marker of Carbohydrate being burned so, no, Hitt training is not the path for fat burning. Iy is however a good way to burn more calories relative to time. More calories, wherever they may come from being burned can still cause weight loss.
